Ford Ka

October 26th, 2010

When the Ford Ka first came out back in 1996, all people could talk about was how to pronounce its name. Kaa, kay and even K.A were all used, but this nonsense overshadowed the fact the Ka is a wonderful little car. Now in its second generation, the Ka is hugely popular and continues to dominate the supermini market.

The Ford Ka was designed as a city car that was cheap to buy and a lot of fun to drive. At no more than 3.5 meters long and 1.5 meters wide, the Ka can be driven in even the most congested of cities and parked pretty much anywhere. While the original engine was the major setback of the Ka, Ford has addressed the issue and a sprightly powerplant can be found in the new models.

The Ka has always been at the cutting edge of design. The original model raised some eyebrows, and the new ones do the same. Curvy, sexy and full of character, the Ka really is cute to look at. Think of it as a baby Fiesta. Even the spinoff models looked great- the StreetKa and SportKa. One thing that is common across the board, apart from looking good is driving even better. Responsive is an understatement for the Ka and you can practically feel the road at your fingertips. With that nippy little engine you can run around town or cruise along the motorway at ease. The Ka is just a whole lot of fun to drive!

If you’re looking to buy one, get a used Ford Ka because you’ll save money and will find no benefit from buying a brand new one. If you look for a used Ford online, there is a plethora of choice in terms of colour and design.

The Ford Ka is a fantastic car. Small, nippy and full of character, it will take you anywhere you want to go with no fuss at all. It is the most popular supermini for good reason, and continues to set the benchmark for all others. So if you’re after a tiny car, check out the Ka.

Professional Indemnity

October 5th, 2010

The history of the motor car is a testament to something that more than Professional Indemnity a few people treat as something approximating a religion and a code to live by. The motor vehicle, which started as something just to get us from one place to another in relative comfort and good time, has evolved again and again over the years into something that constitutes a status symbol, an identifying mark (think about how you often know that someone is on their way before you see their face because you recognize their car, sometimes even by sound), and nothing less than a piece of American history (or Italian, French, German… you get the picture). It makes sense, then, that there should be societies set up to carry out the veneration of something as important and as classic as the American automobile. The AACA itself says that its aim is to keep in the forefront of people’s minds the pioneering days of automobiles by bringing them to people’s interests and giving them the information and the opportunity to advance their understanding of these cars. It also seeks to promote sportsmanship among its members and allow a cultured, relaxed and above all civilized environment in which to discuss and appreciate automobiles.

Incidentally, the AACA’s understanding of the term “automobile” is not just limited to cars, comprising any Employers’ Liability Insurance form of self-propelled vehicle whether that is a motorcycle or a truck. It is more to do with the design and engineering than any idea of “four wheels good, two wheels bad”, or any similarly divisive philosophy. To further its advance towards its goals, the AACA holds regular meetings and events of a competitive nature or otherwise. This allows them to bring the experience of classic cars to people in the way that the people imagine them. Its headquarters, along with its museum, are located in Hershey, PA, and this is where they hold their annual meeting – an opportunity for members to meet and discuss the classic automobile in an environment devoted to its continued support. During the course of the annual meeting there are conferences, workshops and lectures regarding any aspect of classic cars that you could hope to name, whether it is restoring old classics or just a look at their history.
